Note: This document reflects comments from eSoft, Inc. as the original developer of the IPAD-OS.
eSoft believes year 2000 compliance for our products consists of successfully passing functionality tests in four areas:
If any of the parts are not done correctly, the software is considered to be non-compliant with regard to Y2K issues.
eSoft has utilized publicly available programs, as well as internally generated programs to perform a comprehensive suite of tests to determine compliance with the above requirements.
A small number of IPAD model 2500 and model 4500 units shipped before
November 1, 1997 have a BIOS which is not Y2K compliant. In particular,
the system will not roll
the date into the year 2000 when
midnight 12/31/1999 is reached. These systems were all shipped in
tower
cases instead of rackmount or small footprint
desktop style cases. All units shipped by eSoft in rackmount or small
footprint desktop style cases are fully Y2K compliant.
In early 1999 a software program will be made available to test IPAD systems to see if Y2K compliance is an issue. If it is an issue, eSoft will make arrangements for a software patch to detect and correct the problem when it arises on the affected units.
The software patch will simply detect the date going
backwards
and fix the problem when it occurs. The rest of the
IPAD system is Y2K compliant and needs no fixes.
