We're a privately held not for profit corporation founded in 2000 and headquartered in Chicago, Illinois. Our roots date back to before 1982 when Phil Becker of Becker Systems / Ebert Personal Computers first offered bulletin board system (BBS) software for CP/M and Radio Shack TRS-80 Model 1 computer systems. It was the first company to market native multi-user PC-based BBS software (TBBS) that did not depend on external multitasking environments or local area networks. That started an unprecedented 20 years of refining communication technology in the most demanding conditions possible all over the world.
In 1993 Phil Becker (under the eSoft company brand name) launched development of the Internet Protocol Adapter (IPAD) project and began offering beta versions of it for sale to the public in 1995, along with other Internet related products and services. The visionary design is still proving to be extremely advanced more than a decade later.
The IPAD Owners Association, Inc. took over active development of the IPAD-OS and all IPAD related products from eSoft in 2000. From that point on we have been adding a great number of features not found in any other products available.
The innovations we have today show the original visionary foundation under the IPAD-OS is still very strong.
